EMPLOYMENT

Minimum Requirements for ALL Applicants:

 

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED; except School Crossing Guards

  • Must have a clear criminal history.

  • Must be a United States citizen.

  • Driving record must not show a disregard for the law.

  • Credit history must show sound financial management with the ability to keep accounts paid up-to-date.

  • Results of all pre-employment tests and interviews must meet standards.

  • Past employment record must be satisfactory.

  • Must pass a drug test

  • Medical examination results must show that you are capable of performing all of the essential functions of the job for which you are applying, with or without reasonable accommodation.​​​

Required Documentation:

  • Birth Certificate

  • Social Security Card

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • College Transcript, if applicable

  • Valid SC Driver’s License

  • Form DD-214

  • Copy of marriage license and/or divorce decree

  • Any other applicable documents i.e. certifications, training documents, college diplomas, etc.​​

Additional Requirements for Deputy Sheriff

Must be at least 21 years of age for Deputy Sheriff or 18 years of age for Detention Officer and meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Currently certified by the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy as a Class 1 Law Enforcement Officer; or

  • Certified law enforcement officer from another state; or

  • Able to successfully complete the SC Criminal Justice Academy Law Enforcement Officer training.

Additional Requirements for Detention Officer

  • Currently certified by the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy as a Class 2 Law Enforcement Officer; or

  • Certified as a detention/law enforcement officer in another state; or

  • Able to successfully complete the SC Criminal Justice Academy Detention Officer training.

Additional Requirements for Communications Operator/Detention Control & Property Specialist 

​

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
