The next session of the Citizen's Academy is Fall 2024:

August 20th - October 22nd

Please sign up by August 13th!

The Citizen's Academy is an intense ten week immersion into the detailed operation of the Sheriff’s Office. Civic-minded community leaders will give over 20 hours of their own time to attend weekly training sessions.

The goal of the Citizen's Academy is to educate its participants about the role law enforcement plays in society and, more specifically, their own community. We want them to know not only what we do, but why and how we do it so they can leave the sessions proud of THEIR Sheriff’s Office! Graduates will gain an understanding of the operation of the Anderson County Sheriff's Office and develop an awareness and appreciation of the various challenges and decisions faced daily, by the Sheriff's Office; as well as becoming goodwill ambassadors.

These sessions are taught by Sheriff’s Office staff who are leaders in their respective division or unit and intimately know their operations. Participants are exposed to the daily operations of each unit to include its budget, staffing, procedures/operations, and limitations.

Some sessions include tours of each of the Sheriff’s Office buildings. There are also many demonstrations and displays.
